AOCC Lesson Levels

The AOCC offers a comprehensive range of swimming lessons tailored to different age groups and skill levels. For young children, Levels 1 through 3 focus on water safety, skill development, and stroke refinement, with each level building on the previous one to ensure a structured progression.

Private lessons provide personalized instruction for those seeking to improve specific techniques. The lessons are designed to cater to individual needs, whether it's enhancing swimming strokes, learning new strokes like breaststroke and butterfly, or mastering water safety skills.

Recommended for ages 3-5

Level 1

Water safety & comfort

Students are introduced to the water without the aid of a parent, focusing on basic comfort and safety skills. These swimmers will learn straight kicking on their front, assisted back floating, self-initiated submersion of their head, and the ability to climb out of the pool unassisted. At this stage, the emphasis is on building confidence and fundamental motor skills necessary for more advanced swimming techniques.

Level 2

Basic swimming techniques

Students will develop more advanced water safety and swimming skills, including assisted rollovers (front to back and vice versa), submerged push-offs from the wall to the instructor, and retrieving objects from 3-5 feet of water. They will learn to chain freestyle strokes, and basic kicking on their back. Additionally, they will practice jumping into deep water and returning to the wall. This stage is critical for mastering fundamental strokes and  furthering water safety.
